Hey Junior Espresso, by Everly

Under the pretence of “fresh air and a walk,” mum routinely drags me around the neighbourhood in search of her next coffee fix. A lot of the time we end up at Hey Junior Espresso, which is owned by the nice people who used to live next door to us. They have two dogs and apparently a new baby? I haven’t met him, but I’ve heard he doesn’t eat solid food yet. So the haloumi is safe, for now. More importantly, their TWO DOGS are AT THE CAFE A LOT. In my opinion this automatically qualifies them for a 10/10 rating, but to be fair, their haloumi situation must also be taken into consideration, so let’s jump in.

Mum loves Hey Junior’s coffee (she has a problem…) She says it tastes great, and goes really well with their vego stuffed bagels and other fancy thingos like quinoa and feta waffles, brioche french toast and my personal favourite, the brekky bowl. It has avocado, poached eggs, zucchini, almonds and most importantly, HALOUMI. Yes. Good.

The nice people at Hey Junior have set up a library of kids books that I love perusing while mum is getting her “fix” (and I’m helping her by eating all the haloumi). I like to alternate between reading, eating mum’s haloumi, eating my haloumi, staring lovingly at the BEAUTIFUL DOGS and eyeing off all the yummy baked treats in the display.

All in all, Hey Junior Espresso is a really nice place with lots of smiley people who think I’m awesome (obviously), haloumi and dogs. All the important things.

My rating:

Haloumi: 10/10

Coffee: 8/10

Kids stuff: 7/10

DOGS: 11/10
